Atiku disclosed this yesterday at the opening ceremony of an office in Yola under the auspices of a political association, Atiku Support Group (ASG) led by Alhaji Abdulrazak Namdas,
He decried what he described as the oppression of the masses by the political class and impunity by the People Democratic Party (PDP) led federal government which believed that the only way to liberate Nigerians would through strong opposition that would chase the PDP out of government.
The former Vice-president said the office would be used for mobilisation and political awareness as according to him, the PDP had failed the nation in all spheres of development, thereby betraying the confidence of the people and the responsibilities given to the party by the electorate.
However, the former vice-president did not declare his intention to contest the 2015 presidency but said the ruling PDP would be send parking by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general election, expressing confidence that the APC would win the confidence of Nigerians.
The Director General of the Atiku Support Group, Alhaji Abdulrazak Namdas, said the primary purpose of establishing the office was to mobilise the entire people of Adamawa State to join and support the APC en masse because it was the only party that would bring change to Adamawa and Nigeria in general.
He also disclosed that the group comprised of spirited Adamawa indigenes who are mostly politicians and technocrats and who shared the ideals of the former vice-president and ready to promote them.
Namdas said apart from the operational staff, Atiku Support Group had a board of trustees made up of political associates of the former vice-president who would oversee the activities of the group geared to promote the ideals of Atiku.
“The group is also to propagate the ideals of the strongman of Nigerian politics, the former Vice-President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who is unarguably described in many quarters as the pillar of democracy or the man who’s judicial travails has enriched Nigeria’s democracy,” Namdas said
He declared that the judicial travails of Abubakar paved the way for governors of PDP to defect to the APC on the strength of Atiku’s example with the Action Congress.
