Catholic bishop kidnapped in Imo – The Guardian

Armed men at the weekend kidnapped the Catholic bishop of Okigwe, (Imo State) Diocese, Bishop Samuel Amatu. As at the time of filing this story, the whereabouts of the cleric are yet to be ascertained.

 

The cleric was said to have been abducted in his diocese by unknown men, who had been demanding millions of naira ransom from the church authorities.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the Imo State Police Command, Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, confirmed the incident to The Guardian at the weekend, stating that a search operation led by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aloysius Okorie, was combing the state to see if the cleric could be rescued.
