FordAccording to a police autopsy first obtained by the Los Angeles Times, Ezell Ford, an unarmed black man, was shot three times by police: once each in the right arm, back, and side. The skin surrounding the fatal gunshot wound to his back shows a "muzzle imprint."

Ford was shot dead by police on August 11. The autopsy officially classifies his death as a homicide. The LAPD said he was killed while struggling with an officer, attempting to take his gun. Family members said Ford, a mentally-ill 25-year-old, was shot in the back while lying on the ground

"What the report shows is that Ezell was shot in the back and killed," Steve Lerman, the attorney representing Ford's family, told the Times. "There is nothing in the coroner's report that is inconsistent with the statements given to us by the officers," LAPD chief Charlie Beck said, according to The Guardian.
