Members of the Catholic Artistes and Entertainers Association of Nigeria, CAEAN, Archdiocese of Lagos have joined millions of Nigerians from all walks of life to pour encomiums on the deceased legendary actor, late Justus Esiri, describing his death as most shocking and unfortunate.
In a condolence message to the family of the deceased, and signed by the Director of Social Communications, Very Rev. Msgr. Gabriel Osu, CAEAN, while commiserating with the wife and family members, further described Mr. Esiri as one of the nation’s foremost actors who impacted positively to the growth and development of the country’s entertainment industry.
“Mere words cannot describe our deep sense of loss at the sudden passing away of Mr. Esiri, a very patriotic Nigerian who was for many years a source of strength and inspiration to most of us in the nation’s entertainment industry, especially Nollywood. His unwavering sense of professionalism and legendary contribution to the growth of the entertainment industry, cannot be overemphasized as he was duly recognized with a national honour in the year 2007.
“We wish to convey our condolence to you, your children and the entire Esiri family at his recent unfortunate demise,” he stated. While urging the family to take solace in God and in the fact that the late Mr. Esiri, a Catholic, lived an exemplary life, the group prayed God to grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Esiri who died on February 19, 2013 is survived by a wife and six children including Mrs. Edewor , the first child and pop star, Dr. Sydney Esiri better known as Dr. Sid. He will be buried after the Lenten period in the third week of April in accordance with Catholic Church doctrines.
