Contrary to allegations that the Ata Igala, Ameh Oboni who is the president of Kogi State Council of Chiefs, instructed the people to take the spiritual bath of salt and water as protection against the Ebola virus Disease [EVD], the royal father has denied the allegation, saying it was an attempt to tarnish his image by some mischievous elements.

This was contained in a statement signed by Onoja Okpanachi, media coordinator, Ata Igala Palace and made available to THISDAY in Lokoja, which stated that the allegation was total falsehood  to score cheap point now or later by some mischievous elements within and outside Kogi State.

Part of the statement read, “this is to officially inform the entire Igala people home and abroad, the entire good people of Kogi State and Nigeria in particular, that the recent information concerning spiritual bath with salt and water claimed to be an instruction from His Royal Majesty [HRM] Ameh Oboni 11 as protection against the Ebola Virus is totally false and blackmail to score cheap points now or later by some mischievous elements.

“Also, that His Majesty is involved in politics is malicious and some sort of calculation to distract people. What the Ata Igala is doing is reconciling his own children who are politicians and advising them on how to go about politics and encouraging such political calculations that are for the benefit of his people.

“These unknown rumour mongers are taking undue advantage of the popularity of Ata Igala and the great love and respect Igala have for the Ataship, they spread these rumours via internet and mobiles apps so as to remain unknown while achieving their dubious aims”.

The Ata Igala therefore stated that any royal pronouncement for the benefit of the people would not be a secret affair but with responsible sources to hold on to.
He appealed to the people to support the government at all levels to eradicate the deadly Ebola virus.
