Nigeria Senate confirms Nnana as CBN Deputy Gov

ABUJA – CENTRAL Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Deputy Governor nominee, Dr. Okwu Joseph Nnana, was confirmed ,Tuesday, by the Senate after scaling screening.

The confirmation of Nnana, who was nominated by President Goodluck Jonathan to represent the South East geo-political zone, followed the consideration of report of his screening from the Joint committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, headed by Senator Bassey Otu, PDP, Cross River South.

While submitting the report, Chairman of the committee, Bassey Otu described Dr Nnana as “very resourceful, articulate and a vibrant economist per excellence who convinced members of the panel that screened him of his ability to efficiently handle the job.”

Senate President, David Mark, who presided over the session, congratulated the CBN Deputy Governor designate, expressed confidence that Dr Nnana would play a crucial role in the current economic situation of the country.
